Summer Food Service Program

AARP Grandparent of the Year Award
Meece Middle School participated in the AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year contest where fifth graders from across the Commonwealth wrote heartfelt stories to honor and celebrate their grandparents. Kara Lewis wrote on her grandmother, Peggy Tucker, and was selected by AARP as the overall winners for Meece Middle School.

Fifth graders at Meece Middle School are writing letters to Santa for Macy’s Believe Campaign benefitting Make-A-Wish. For each letter written to Santa and deposited in a Santa Mail Letterbox Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish.

Cards for Dalton Dingus
Meece Middle Students are making cards for a Kentucky boy, Dalton Dingus. Dalton is 9 years old and has stage 4 Cystic Fibrosis. He wants to beat the world record of receiving the most Christmas cards. The record is 35,000 Christmas Cards.

Somerset JV Cheerleaders won first place in the 2 ½ Jr. Non-Tumbling division and a bid to the National Competition at Disney World, February 9-10, 2013.

6th Grade Immunization & Physicals
According to state regulation (KRS 158:035) Kentucky law requires all students entering 6th grade to have a physical exam within one year prior to entering the 6th grade. An up to date immunization certificate is required to enter the 6th grade.
