Students enrolled in U.S. History, English 10, Algebra II, or Biology at Somerset High School will receive "End of Course" reports on May 16-21, 2013.

The application deadline for  Camp Jump Start at Somerset Community College has been extended to this Friday, May 17.

Somerset High School Junior/Senior Prom will be held at the Center for Rural Development May 4, 2013. The Prom will begin at 8:00 and end at midnight.

The 2013 After Prom event will be held at Rocky Hollow Recreational Center on May 4, 2013 from 1:00 am to 4:00 am. 

Somerset High School Band concert will be held May 5th, in the WB Jones auditorium at 2:30 in the afternoon.  

Seniors- David Rogers will be at SHS on Wednesday, May 1 at 10:00am to take cap & gown photos.

The Somerset High School DECA Chapter took 32 DECA members to the DECA State Career and Development Conference at the Galt House in Louisville on March 10th-12th.  The students competed in various marketing-related events that they qualified for at DECA Regionals. 

Somerset High School will be having a meeting on Monday, March 25, 6:00 p.m., SHS Media Center(Library).  Parents of the 2013-14 Freshman Class are encouraged to attend.

 The Kiwanis Club of Somerset is sponsoring a $1,000 Academic Scholarship for financial assistance.

Students who plan to take an AP exam MUST sign up and pay before March 27.

Students who receive free or reduced lunches are eligible for the reduced fee of $53 per exam. 

All others will be charged the full $89. 

On March 13, 2013, 8^th grade students from both Meece Middle School and Science Hill Independent, along with 10^th grade students from Somerset High School will participate in Operation Preparation.  This will take place on the campus of Somerset Community College.  Read More>> >>

The Somerset High School boys basketball team will travel to the Frankfort Convention Center to participate in the All "A" Classic Basketball Tournament on Thursday, January 24, 2013, 6:30 p.m. 

Gina Collins from Lindsey Wilson College will be in the SHS Guidance Office starting at 10:00am on Friday, January 25, to assist seniors with filing their FAFSA form. Students need to sign up in the guidance office. Any parents wishing to attend can call the guidance office for an appointment time.

SHS invites parents to attend our Parent-Teacher Conference on Monday, November 5^th.   This will be an informal, open-house which will be a great time to meet the SHS faculty and speak with your child’s teachers.   We’re sure your attendance will benefit your child’s education.

Morehead State University will be hosting a Meet MSU Night at The Center for Rural Development on Thursday, October 11 from 6-8pm for all juniors, seniors, parents and school faculty/staff. Representatives from academic departments, financial aid and scholarships will be available to answer questions. MSU will waive application fees for all seniors who attend. Seniors can register to win a $500 book voucher and other door prizes. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is available online or by phone at 1-800-585-6781.

Meals in the Summer Food Service Program are free to all children who have not had their 19th birthday. The dates of the program are June 3-July 26, 2013, excluding July 4-5.

Somerset High School DECA Students traveled to California this past week for national competition.  Four of the seven Kentucky students that received national recognition are from Somerset High School.

Members of the Briar Jumper Nation suffered a tragic loss recently.  The Jackson family is mourning the loss of their father and their home in a fire.  Two local bands performed a  Benefit Concert to help raise money for the Jackson family.  Broken Glass and Out Of The Ashes performed in WB Jones Auditorium to a standing room only crowd.  More >> >>

Somerset High School will play host to the KHSAA Boys and Girls 47th District Tournament.  All games will be played at the Briar Patch with the Boys Basketball action starting on 02/19, 7 p.m. and the Girls Basketball action on 02/21, 6:30 p.m.  Tickets will be available at the door for $6.

Somerset High School’s Honors Night will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 7:00 p.m. in the W.B. Jones auditorium. 

Awards Day will be held at Somerset High School on Tuesday, May 14, 1:30 p.m. in the W.B. Jones auditorium.

Applications for the 2013 Rural Electric Youth Tour in Washington DC are now being accepted by South KY RECC.  

The Kentucky Federation of Republican Women (KFRW) is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a college-bound high school senior girl who has been politically active during her high school career. The qualified applicant will graduate from a Ky high school in 2013, is a registered Republican and plans to enroll at a Ky college or university. The application deadline is April 1, 2013. The Civil Engineering Scholarship Program offers scholarships for students pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree in civil engineering.
